Corey Haim passed away on March 10th reportedly due to a drug overdose. It saddens me when young people whose lives are filled with such promise are suddenly taken away. I cast a chart for 4 AM, the time the police were called for the official report of death. I wanted to see what Corey was thinking and feeling which led to his demise.

Three degrees Aquarius is rising with its ruler Saturn retrograde in the eighth house of death. Saturn also rules the twelfth house of self-undoing and sorrow – how often do I see this in cases of this type. Saturn going retrograde in Venus’ sign: he was reevaluating relationships, not only romantic, but with the world at large. He was concerned about his earnings: Mercury, ruler of others’ resources, was exactly on his second house cusp. Mercury was in detriment, and strongly combust the Sun. He was having financial concerns. Mercury also ruled the fifth house of recreation, so he may have overspent his money on partying and recreational things. Mars ruled his third house of communication and thought. It is retrograde, but stationing, conjunct the Leo seventh house cusp. He felt he was losing some control over business and/or personal relationships. Mars also rules the tenth of career, and in opposition to Corey’s Ascendant, this too was a source of conflict and concern. Mars appears to sextile Saturn but this kind of sextile is not helpful; the two planets are in negative mutual reception. Whatever Corey did to solve his issues only made them worse. The overdose being the final act.

The Moon is in its detriment in the twelfth house. It speaks of pained emotions and a sense of being trapped in them. It is conjunct the Moon’s North Node which is unfortunately placed. The Sun in Pisces is also in a nodal degree signifying a fateful ending. Corey was not in full control of himself emotionally when he overdosed. He was seeking a mellowed-out, peaceful release from his anxieties. Sadly for him, and the rest of us, his release was permanent.

Astrology of Brittany Murphy’s Untimely Death February 25, 2010

Film actress Brittany Murphy, only 32, was pronounced dead at 10:20 AM on December 20, 2009 following a bout with the flu, and a history of misusing prescription drugs.

Neptune is rising at 24 degrees Aquarius which is in exact conjunction with both Jupiter and the Ascendant.  Jupiter conjunct Neptune can indicate going overboard with illegal or prescription drugs.  Neptune and Jupiter rising, opposite a brash sixth house Mars, describes a vague, confusing situation suggestive of destructive use of illicit or prescription drugs.  With Jupiter ruling the 10th of publicity this incident would receive world attention.  Neptune rising can also denote a film star or celebrity, with the opposition to Mars describing a dangerous act with harmful consequences.

There are other bad signs:  the Ascedant ruler Saturn is conjunct the 8th house cusp, in exaltation, triplicity and terms of itself.  Saturn rules 11, 12 and 1.  The twelfth house rules hospitals, secrecy, and sorrow, and is also the house of self-undoing.  This rulership describes a person whose goals and ambitions eventually led to her own early demise.  The association of Saturn and the twelfth house can be indicative of suicide, whether deliberately carried out with that purpose in mind, or self-undoing caused by confusion and disorientation.

Her ruler Saturn also squares Pluto in 11th, reinforcing the notion that  her goals and aspirations had something to do with the cause of her death.  She had had plastic surgery and had taken prescription meds for pain, also was reportedly coming down with flu like symptoms and medicating for those days before her death.  Having plastic surgery shows a desire for physical self-improvement which was her goal, to look better.  It would clearly help her achieve her ambition to jump start her film career, which had stalled after several promising movies that she made in the 1990s.  But the medication for the post-surgical pain, mixed with other meds, may have led to her demise.

Time of Death Pronouncement

The Sun is at critical 29 degrees of Sagittarius, showing an element of desperation in this chart.  Sun is about to leave Sag and enter Capricorn, where it will combust Pluto.  The planet representing the life force will come into contact the destroyer of life; a fit analogy for the situation described.   The Sun here rules the 7th house of marriage and partners and Brittany’s death is no doubt having a devastating effect on those close to her.

The afflicted Moon, ruler of 6th, approaching sextile with afflicted Saturn, ruler of 8th, is bad news.  This shows that her health was already compromised and in a weakened state before this fateful Sunday.  With Mars in the sixth she may have had an infection of some kind, which weakened her and led to her taking more drugs to combat it. The 8th ruler Venus is also in the term and face of Saturn, her ruler.    Ruler of 6th, Moon in Aquarius, is in unfortunate 12th house of self-undoing.  The worst houses of the horoscope for an illness — afflicted 6th, 8th and 12th — feature very strongly and in a negative way.  This patient was not going to survive.

Venus disposits Brittany’s Saturn:  her interest was in beauty, and that ambition led her to undergo plastic surgery and take painkillers to achieve her objective.

The ruler of the 6th approaches opposition to a newly-retrograde Mars in Leo in late sixth house applying to 7th cusp.  The Moon rules drugs and Mars rules rash behavior and when in the sixth, can rule accidents.  Leo rules the heart.  A bad drug combination may have led to a sudden cardiac arrest.  An autopsy is pending.

Brittany’s ruler Saturn is by far the most powerful planet in this horoscope, ruling three houses which relate to Brittany, her goals and ambitions, and her own self-undoing.  She was ambitious, talented and in control of her destiny, but choices and actions she took to fulfill her ambitions had dangerous and ultimately fatal consequences.

UPDATE:  This article was written in January 2010.  On February 4, 2010, the Los Angeles county coroner ruled that this was an “accidental death caused by community acquired pneumonia, iron deficiency anemia, and  multiple drug intoxication.”

Tiger Woods’ Fallen Star December 19, 2009

In the early morning after Thanksgiving Tiger Woods left his house and drove his SUV into a fire hydrant and a tree.  An astrology horoscope for the time of the accident [November 27, 2:25 AM, Windermere, FL] shows that the very least of the damage sustained was to his face and the SUV.  Now over three weeks later the repercussions continue as various mistresses come out of the woodwork to describe their romantic liaisons with golf’s greatest and fastest falling star.

The event horoscope portrays a far more serious crisis than the SUV accident originally reported.  There are two powerful T-squares in the chart, one in cardinal signs on the angles and one in fixed signs.  But before we analyze these let’s look at Tiger himself and how the chart portrays him at this destructive time.

Tiger Woods, Tiger Woods accident

Horoscope for Tiger Woods Accident

Tiger is shown by Venus at 24 Scorpio in the second house of money and self-esteem.  This Venus is just four degrees from his natal Venus at 28 Scorpio.  Venus is not happy in the detriment sign of Scorpio.  A planet in its detrimented does not work well through its best energies, which have to do with fairness, harmony and women.  In Scorpio Venus is secretive, controlling, and must have her way at any cost.  In this chart Venus trines the sixth house Uranus, which represents sudden shocking events, including accidents and divorce.  This placement also speaks of the individual’s need for total freedom.  Venus in trine to Uranus wants its own freedom and independence from others:  in spite of of being married, Tiger is desirous of multiple sexual involvements and unwilling to commit to a monogamous relationship with his wife.  The trine also shows facility; this strong-willed but risky behavior certainly facilitated the accident, the marital breakup and the breakdowns in Tiger’s image that followed.

Venus also describes Tiger’s libertine pursuits in its hard square to the Jupiter-Neptune conjunction in the fifth house of pleasure and love affairs.  Jupiter indicates a lot of them, and together with Neptune, describes attractive, glamorous women and a fair amount of deception in their pursuit.  The square shows that Tiger went overboard in his indulgence in promiscuous sex, sowing the seed of his very downfall.  The many sexual partners have gloried in their sudden newfound publicity and several have already profited handsomely from hush money paid by Tiger’s damage control team.

Unfortunately for Tiger, Mars, ruling his wife Elin in proud Leo, opposes the Jupiter-Neptune conjunction and also squares Venus.  This configuration no doubt led to her suspicions, their arguing, and the violence that ensued.  The fixed T-square is a portrait of overindulged desires, infidelity exposed, betrayal, tension, and emotional outbursts.

A T-square is like a chair with three legs:  it is an unstable energy, which continually adds stress to the native by rocking from one difficult situation to the next.  The “fourth leg” of this chair, the exit point for the energy, is in Taurus in the eighth house:  joint resources, settlements, the spouse’s money.  Did anyone think he would not immediately try to re-negotiate their prenuptial agreement following this disaster?  Tiger’s second house Venus shows that money is a foremost consideration in his mind in this situation; this Venus is not a compassionate one, and will do damage control as quickly as possible to stave off losses.  Venus is also in the terms of Mercury, so even while he was being pulled from the SUV he was already thinking contract:  marital contract, prenup, and also, all of his extremely lucrative product endorsements.

The face of a planet will show where the individual is conflicted or afraid.  In this case Venus is in its own face.  There is some fear and conflict over women, affecting his involvement with them, his need to dominate them in repeated sexual conquests, and his need to continually betray his wife.  Venus in its own face has often been noted in men who struggle in intimate relationships with women.  If the individual is not in touch with such feelings it can lead to dysfunctional and self-destructive relationships.  Fore!

How could such a seemingly innocent fender-bender result in such a major personal and public catastrophe for one of the greatest sports celebrities of all time?  It’s Saturn coming to call on Tiger.  Saturn, the celestial taskmaster, shows us our flaws so that we can come to terms with them; if we resist, we are faced with crisis and then all bets with Saturn are off.  At the time of the accident Saturn was rising in Libra, sign of relationships and partners!  Red flag, anyone?  In addition, Saturn rules the fifth of pleasure and sex — coming home to roost on Tiger’s Ascendant — how appropriate!  Saturn in Libra is also in the detriment of Mars, Elin’s planet; the revelation of Tiger’s marital misconduct has literally been detrimental to her.  However, with Mars in the triplicity of Jupiter she may consider seek a legal resolution.

Saturn in this Ascendant is highlighting Tiger’s marriage crisis.  It is opposed by an angry Moon in Aries, on the Descendant, representing Tiger’s wronged spouse.  Aries rules the head, where Tiger was injured, and some speculate that Elin, not the SUV, delivered these wounds.   With Moon in afflicted Aries and her ruler Mars in proud Leo, this is not an improbable scenario, and Elin will be heard from.  On the other hand, Tiger’s Scorpio is a mute sign, and he has said nothing of the situation except to issue a terse apology to his “family and supporters,” with more emphasis on the supporters than anyone else.

As if the betrayal weren’t bad enough, the Moon-Saturn opposition (revelation of wrongdoing to woman/partner), is squared by Pluto in Capricorn, a great leveller of status and celebrity.   What is the exit point of this destructive T-square?  It is Cancer in the tenth house, a very public airing-out of familial and emotional betrayal, with serious consequences for the public image.   As of this writing only one sponsor, Gatorade, has cancelled Tiger’s contract.  No other sponsors have yet followed suit, but whether they do or not, a great deal of intangible damage has already been done.  Saturn has cast its lot, and the chickens have come home to roost for golf’s greatest player.

Tiger’s Venus is in the triplicity of Mars, Elin’s sign:  the crisis must work through reconciliation with his partner, controlling his sexual desire, and healing his marriage, which would require a great deal of personal emotional therapy as well as the commitment which he has thus far failed to summon.  Since Uranus, the representative of accidents and breakups, is in the nodal degree of 22, an eventual divorce is likely.  Two days ago it was reported that Elin Nordegren filed for divorce and took the two children to Sweden for the holidays.

The powerful and afflicted rising Saturn in Libra has challenged Tiger to the match of his life.  The stakes are high, the costs higher, and the handicap to overcome is astronomical.

I deleted the blog that was here for the past two months because further research has shown that I had the wrong time of the disappearance.  I now understand that Toni Lee was last seen around 5 AM on August 23, 2009, in Gladwyne PA.  The original chart was set for 3 AM.  This is one of the shortcomings of doing crime astrology; sometimes finding exact times is very difficult, and yet the horoscope has to be as exact as possible to yield helpful information.

However, at 3 AM she went to the house of a basketball player to hang out with a few others, among them a friend Crystal, who has been considered suspicious by several people.  I think I should study both the 3 AM and 5 AM charts to determine movement in the story and what was going on during those two hours.  I do understand that Toni Lee was quite drunk, that there had been a big argument, supposedly over who was to drive, herself or Crystal.  The second horoscope does show a nasty argument taking place, so I think this horoscope is on the right track.  Surprisingly, this second horoscope is not that different from the original, which is kind of spooky!  I want to study it some more before posting to the blog.  I have done more research too since writing the blog last month and am touched by the outpouring of efforts that have gone into finding Toni Lee.  My prayers go out to all involved.

Forensic astrology: Nevaeh Buchanan’s abduction, Part 2 August 29, 2009

My previous post mentioned that Nevaeh Buchanan’s mother and her boyfriend were arrested for the child’s abduction and murder.  Based on the event horoscope of the abduction this is not surprising news.  First I have to clarify that I am not accusing anyone of any activity in the crimes that I write about; I am just interpreting the information in the horoscope and my analyses are not always perfect.  This is for information and for those wishing to learn more about forensic astrology.

In the chart cast for 9:20 pm of May 24, 2009 in Monroe, MI, the perpetrator is shown as 9 Gemini Descendant, ruled by Mercury which is in Taurus, retrograde, in the 6th house.  A few things jump out at me regarding this person:

Disappearance of Nevaeh Buchanan

Disappearance of Nevaeh Buchanan

A retrograde significator in horary astrology indicates something that may be found, or returned.  I believe this person will be found.  The boyfriend of the mother of the victim, and the mother, have been arrested for Nevaeh’s murder.  I am not accusing them of the crime.  I do note that the Moon, which rules the mother, is conjunct the Descendant.  The Moon in Gemini is in mutual reception with Mercury.  This may indicate that the mother knew the perpetrator of the crime, and it may also show that they cared for each other.  Planets in mutual reception “like” each other; they are in each other’s sign, showing an affinity.

Nevaeh’s mother’s significator is also Mercury, because it rules the 10th house of mothers. This reinforces the bond between the mother and her boyfriend.  Before the arrest the boyfriend was considered a person of interest, but Mrs. Buchanan strongly defended the boyfriend and in fact appeared to show more concern for the boyfriend than for her missing daughter.

What else does this horoscope show me about the mother?  Her ruler, Moon, is squared by Saturn.  The responsibilities of motherhood bore heavily on her.  Her sign, Gemini, is the sign in which Nevaeh’s planet, Jupiter, is in its Fall.  The mother-daughter relationship was not ideal.  The mother’s significator is clearly more favorable to the boyfriend than to little Nevaeh.

While I am neither accusing the mother or her boyfriend, I did mention in my first post about this crime that there was a curious time gap from when Nevaeh was last seen, to when the police were called.  The mother’s reaction to the daughter’s disappearance was also curious.

UPDATE:   I had not researched this case since getting news of the mother and boyfriend being taken into custody.   A reader of this blog informed me that the mother and boyfriend were not charged with the crime.   To date there have been no arrests.

Forensic astrology: the sad disappearance of Nevaeh Buchanan August 29, 2009

What do the stars say about the disappearance of Nevaeh Buchanan?  I cast my chart for the moment that the police were notified by Nevaeh’s mother:  9:20 pm on May 24, 2009, in Monroe, Michigan.  Keep in mind that little Nevaeh was reportedly last seen at 6:30 pm, leaving a curious hour and 50 minute gap between this and the time the police were finally called …

This is an event chart so Nevaeh is represented by the Ascendant, 9 Sagittarius, and its ruler Jupiter at 26 Aquarius in the third house, sandwiched exactly between Chiron and Neptune which are also 26 Aquarius.

Horoscope for disappearance of Nevaeh Buchanan

Horoscope for disappearance of Nevaeh Buchanan

Two things bother me already about Nevaeh’s fate:  the Ascendant which represents her is exactly conjunct the malefic fixed star Antares, which rules violence, tragedy and in certain circumstances, blindness and injury to the head.  I am also unhappy that the Part of Fortune, which casts light on the outcome of a matter, is at 1 Sagittarius in the unfortunate 12th house, exactly opposite the Sun at 3 Gemini in the sixth house.

12th house placements in charts of missing children promise suffering and/or secrecy of some kind if main significators like the Part of Fortune are there.  The Sun, natural ruler of the fifth house of children, is badly placed in Gemini in the 6th and it opposes the 12th house Part of Fortune.  Uranus, a co-ruler of Jupiter, applies to conjunction with the 4th house of endings.   Jupiter is superconjunct Neptune in the third.  Nevaeh just disappeared from her neighborhood under very suspicious, and deceptive, circumstances.  This is a very poor testimony for a missing child and Nevaeh’s prospects of surviving the kidnapping are bleak.

Several days after I cast this chart I was saddened to learn that Nevaeh’s dead body had been located in a field.  She had been partially buried and covered by a concrete slab.  In the weeks following, her mother and the mother’s boyfriend were arrested and both have been charged with her murder.

A sad irony in this case is that the mother had named her daughter Nevaeh because it is “Heaven” spelled backward.  That is where Nevaeh is resting now, while the mother’s fate appears much less promising.

Why was the arrest of the mother and boyfriend not a surprise, according to this unfortunate chart?  Read my next blog to find out.
